“Interaction of Identity” (2021)

This is an autobiographical video collage made with shapes I drew in the note app on my phone. These shapes depict an interaction I am having with my emotions (on a good day, when I am better equipped to give myself compassion and face feelings). I identify with the biggest shape, and the smaller shapes are the feelings and/or stimuli. Together we intermingle in a little dance, and the shapes move in an atypical orbit around me. The shapes play off each other and interact in this small world. The titular shape is small in the beginning because I’m showing my insecurity of an initial encounter with my feelings. I quickly gain confidence, in this perfect alignment of how I’m feeling, and my environment, and I grow. Emotional experiences are usually fleeting, hence the abrupt end.
